INSTANT NOODLE PAVILION
The pavilion is made out of foam noodles that are built in hexagonal modules. The rood and base are constructed in two halves and assembled together once both are completed.
Instant Noodle Pavilion draws its inspiration and form from the simple imagery of the summer’s most popular pass times—reading under a tree. One of the competition parameter was to consider materials due to the limited transportation that is provided to the island itself and so the pavilion uses foam noodles: a light-weight material that is widely present during the summer season. It is a movable temporary public library that can be quickly set up in various locations throughout New York City.
